Picture yourself suspended... feet and knees together

After a few hours of training...2800 feet above the ground...canopy blossomed above you, opened automatically from the aircraft...Then sudden stillness and quiet as the aircraft you left just four seconds ago drones off to drop the next eager jumper...

The wonderful view you get with nothing beneath you but your own legs...no feeling of fear at the height...securely fastened into a comfortable harness...steering your huge, 900 square foot parachute by a gentle pull on a steering toggle...receiving advice by radio to help steer yourself back to the 200 acre dropzone...landing, about as hard as jumping off the roof of a car...roll, like your training.

Perfect landing!

PROGRESSING IN THE SPORT

AFTER THE FIRST JUMP

After you have completed the first jump course your training program is flexible - come to the dropzone whenever you can.
Weather and conditions permitting, we fly from 9am to sunset on weekends and public holidays.

Your main parachute will be opened by a static line for the first six jumps.

There are tasks that you must complete on each jump in order to progress. For your first two jumps, all you will be trying to do is get a good exit. That means that you should have a good body position in the door, you should exit on heading and have a strong arch. You may not be able to get two satisfactory exits right away, but that doesn't matter. If it takes you three, four, or five plus jumps to get two good exits, then that's fine, they're all FUN!!.

TRCP

TRCP stands for Training RipCord Pull. These are jumps on which you are pulling a dummy handle to practice pulling the real handle that opens your parachute on your freefall jumps. On TRCP jumps, the handle is in the same location, and is about the same size and shape as the real thing. You must complete four, good TRCPs before going onto the next stage...freefall!!
By then, you and your instructors will be confident that you have what it takes to pull your ripcord.

Arch thousand, 2000, look thousand, pull thousand...

FREEFALL!

The next step in your progression is your first freefall. You must complete your last TRCP and your first freefall on the same day. Between these two jumps you will receive some additional training to teach you the things you will need to know to make a freefall jump.

THE ROAD AHEAD...

After you pull your own ripcord for the first time, which is a 4 second freefall jump, you will progress to longer delays of 5, 10, 15 and 20 second delays. You will work on turns and backloops,(learning to control your body on all axis) before you become 'Self Supervised'. This means that you can go on to more advanced freefall skills. Once you are at this level, you will be cleared to progress to square parachutes and a new reserve system. You will be required to accept a higher set of risks (releasing your malfunctioned main parachute and going back into freefall before deploying your reserve) which by this time, you should be ready for.

BECOMING AN EXPERIENCED SKYDIVER

Once you have received all your seminars and completed the required tasks, all that's left is to write the exam for the
Canadian Associates of Professional Skydivers, (CAPS), 'A' Endorsement which allows you to jump anywhere in the world and proves that you are a qualified, competent skydiver.

Throughout your entire learning process you must remember...it's not how many jumps you have, but how well you do! The speed at which you progress is entirely up to you!!
